Ocoee bank was chartered on Feb 25, 1854 with a capital not to exceed $950,000. When it opened its doors, only $100,000 of that had been subscribed. The original charter allowed for 4 branches to be opened, but only one branch (in Knoxville) was ever opened. The Knoxville branch opened in 1859. It is suggested that the Knoxville branch actually became the main office for the bank, but that isn't borne out by documentation so far as I know.
The history of its executives is essentially written by the names inscribed on the notes. The name on the note pictured below is B McFarland, which (according to Garland) was the President pro tem in 1860.
Apparently the bank ceased operations in 1863, so the signatures would suggest the note pictured below was one of the last issues they released.
If you have any notes from this bank, please post a picture for us.
