According to Garland, this bank was established in 1853 under the General Banking law with a capital of only $50,000 (about half the average starting capital for banks of the period). It was owned by a Nashville company called Dyer Pearl and Company.
William M. Churchwell served as president from 1853 - 1855, and M. W. Williams served as president from 1855 until the bank concluded its business in 1863. Samuel Morrow was cashier from 1853 - 1854, and was succeeded by John Trenbath for the remainder of the banks term of operation.
The bank issued notes in several denominations including $1, $2, $3, $5, $10 and $20, all of which are fairly scarce and the higher denominations are either unique or unknown. Pictured below are the two $3 notes I have acquired, but from the latter period of the bank's operation.
