I was the underbidder, and there's no telling how much the winner was willing to pay (under the assumption that the proof was genuine). I'd say in such cases the person that presumes a note is genuine will generally be willing to bid higher than one who presumes otherwise. I wasn't willing to spend more than 227 to find out if it was a fake. ;)
