I would agree, if the Haxby variants had a different number. Even in the latest Stacks auction there were several notes listed with "Variant" at the end of the Haxby number. To my way of thinking it is or isn't a Haxby IDed note. In other wards, a note attributed to a Haxby type with a variation (OP, no OP, Date, etc) would not be the same as the issued note of that Haxby type.

Make sense?

Agreed!

However, what is frustrating is that the auction houses are making up Haxby numbers.

Very true... very frustrating.

I've been unable to gather the gumption to dive in head first on verification of the Uniques. I made an attempt that involved opening the two spreadhseets in separate windows and going back and forth between the two... in 30 minutes I only processed about 15 notes. That was never going to work.

So then it occurred to me to merge the two files in a way that would let me see which records came from where. So that's what I'm trying now. The previous post has the two files, but the only one you need is Uniques_DB.xlsx. The color coded rows in that file correspond to the various types of presumably unique notes in the Uniques.xls file. I've color coded the tabs on the Uniques file to make it easier to understand where the rows came from.

The process is much faster and more reliable.
