I found this auction amusing, especially in light of our database project. He claims there were only 8 of these notes sold at Christie's auction... but that would only be the case if there was no overprint. I show 44 of those with overprint being sold in 1990. He also claims that 2 of the 8 were damaged. I show no damage entries for those without overprint, but certainly some of the ones with OP were damaged... though exactly how many isn't known/recorded.

In short, this seller is one to watch out for on any of their currency listings. Certainly, graded notes give you SOME protection, but the hype always associated with this seller's auctions is aimed squarely at the uneducated new collector... so they usually generate more bids than the merchandise would garner on its own.
