Just got "Money & Banking in Maryland" by Bruchey, Bruchey, Kelly, Shank, and Gordon copyright 1996.The first 70 pages or so give a nice history of banking in the state. The rest of this 530 page book is the catalog for obsolete and scrip notes of Maryland. There is a short history for each issuer. The book has about 4 black and white note images per page. The listings took some time to get used to - quite different from Haxby. There are no values but it does have typical rarity numbers.
A nice book overall, especially if Maryland is your specialty. Haxby covers Maryland in only about 60 pages.
It is quite expensive. Many online dealers want $200+. I finally snagged one for $60 by periodically looking at
http://www.bookfinder.com.
The book was issued by the Maryland Historical Society, which also has 100's of these notes at their site:
http://www.mdhs.org/library/digitalarchives/omc/MDcurHome.shtml . Although the notes were scanned at 300dpi, they are posted at much lower resolution. I suspect that one might be able to obtain the 300dpi images by asking.
