The Bower book has the following to say about this bank:

Quote:
The Bank of Washtenaw was chartered on March 26, 1835, prior to thewildcat era in that terriroty. Its offices were in two small rooms in the Chapin house at the corner of Fourth and Ann streets. The bank succumbed to the effects of the panic of 1837 and the collapse of most of the Michigan banking system.

I've been curious about this bank for a while because I see so many of its remainder notes for sale on eBay. Surprising to learn it had such a short run.
